The following are the four Residential Parking Districts in the City of Portsmouth:

• Glensheallah
• Olde Towne South
• Olde Towne
• Southside

Restrictions

These districts have restrictions that apply to vehicles not bearing a district decal or guest pass. The restrictions are posted at the entrances to each district and in various other locations throughout the district.

Please follow these instructions to obtain parking permits:

Decals

Residential parking permits are issued by the City Treasurer’s Office. Decals cost $3.00 each, payable by check or money order, and are valid to June 30th of each year. Residents and property owners of Olde Towne and Olde Towne South will be issued two guest passes per address with the purchase of their decals, which will expire on the same date as the purchased decals.

 

If you are a new resident or have a new vehicle, the following documentation is required: Proof of residency or ownership (i.e. a copy of your lease or closing papers that shows your name and new address) or of employment at a business in the residential district, your vehicle’s registration, and your ID. 

Permits may be obtained in person at the City Treasurer’s Office in City Hall, 801 Crawford St, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. Your permit will be issued to you during your visit.

To request by email or through the drop box: A copy of each of these items may be emailed to [email protected] or deposited in the City Treasurer’s Office Drop Box on Columbia Street, next to City Hall. Please include your contact information (telephone number and email address). Once these items are received, a parking permit application to submit with your payment will be emailed to you. Your decal(s) will be mailed to you after your payment is processed.  Please allow 5 business days after payment is received to receive your permit.

Guest Passes

Short-term guest passes may be obtained at no cost from the Portsmouth Parking Authority Customer Service Office, located in the Middle Street Parking Garage at 441 Middle Street. Office Hours: 9:30 A.M. to Noon and 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Wednesday.
