The Portsmouth Planning Department has initiated a project to review and update the historic districts guidelines for the City’s five locally designated historic districts (Cradock, Olde Towne, Park View, Port Norfolk, and Truxtun). The guidelines were last substantially reviewed and revised in 2008. This process will allow historic district property owners, residents, elected officials, and staff the opportunity to provide input on revising the design standards.
The Planning Department and the selected consultant, Frazier Associates, solicited input from property owners in the historic districts through a multiple item questionnaire as well as a series of in-person interactive workshops.
The updated guidelines are expected to be completed over the next several months.
